MVC Architecture Demonstration

An educational site explaining the Model-View-Controller design pattern.

The Controller Component

The Controller acts as the logical brain and coordinator of the MVC architecture. It receives and processes events or input commands sent by the user through the View, performs necessary logic, updates the Model, and dictates changes to the View.

Responsibilities of the Controller

User Request Processing Workflow (MVC Lifecycle)

Below is a detailed breakdown of how a user request flows step-by-step through the Model-View-Controller components:

  1. Step 1: User Action

The user interacts with a form or button inside the View (e.g., submitting a contact form with their email and message).

  2. Step 2: Event Capture

The View captures the click event and relays the form data to the Controller's routing handler.

  3. Step 3: Logic Processing

The Controller intercepts the request, runs validation logic (e.g., checks if email is structured correctly), and decides what action is required.

  4. Step 4: Model Update

The Controller instructs the Model to record this new contact entry in the database. The Model validates, saves the entry, and modifies its active state.

  5. Step 5: View Update & Output

The Controller receives confirmation of the successful save from the Model, directs the View to display a "Submission Successful" message, and the View renders the success confirmation screen back to the user.
