The View Component
The View is responsible for displaying the representation of the application's data (the Model) to the user. It is the visual layer that defines the layout, rendering styles, and content representation of the software interface.
Responsibilities of the View
- Presentation: Rendering the layout, graphical components, and values of data retrieved from the Model.
- Observation: Listening for updates or notifications emitted by the Model. When the Model data changes, the View refreshes its layout to display the new state.
- User Input Capturing: Presenting interactive controls (like buttons or text inputs) that capture user events and pass them to the Controller for processing.
- Independence: Ensuring there is no direct business logic or data modification code written inside the interface layer.
Examples of User Interface Elements inside a View
Views are constructed using various visual interface elements. Examples include:
-
Forms and Data Fields:
Fields where users input data (text boxes, drop-down menus, gender radio buttons, date pickers). -
Tables and Schedules:
Grid structures used to display tabular information (such as educational qualifications, academic timetables, or course schedules). -
Unordered and Ordered Lists:
List formats used to organize bulleted data (like technical skill sets or proficiency rankings of languages). -
Hyperlinks and Navigational Menus:
Interactive links that direct the user to different routes, components, or documentation pages. -
Media Elements:
Image tags and placeholder illustrations showing student photos or visual graphics.
